ASHA EDWIN

Researcher, educator, consultant, yoga and wellness practitioner,

and event host.

Asha Edwin is the founder of Body is Home and an interdisciplinary Black feminist doctoral student and researcher. Her work explores the intersections of wellness, culture, and art, with a specific focus on the wellbeing of Black women. In addition, she is also a research assistant on projects related to Black women’s health and Black girls in sport.

In 2024, Asha founded The Body is Home, a multidisciplinary initiative that examines what it means to be at home in our bodies through movement and community. She led the first community-based research project in 2024, focusing on Black women runners.  Asha also planned and hosted the project's inaugural community panel and event and launched the project's first art exhibition as part of Hart House Talking Walls. She also founded a student-led support group, Black and Racialized Women in Graduate Studies at Brock, which provides academic, personal and peer-to-peer support for Black and racialized women at Brock University. 

 

Asha is also the founder and principal consultant of ASHARE Group Inc., a boutique consulting agency. Asha has collaborated with numerous community partners and organizations on initiatives and projects focused on anti-racism, equity, culture, community engagement, and development.

Asha is also the founder and director of scholHER, an organization dedicated to supporting racialized women navigating graduate studies and research. She bridges her academic pursuits with embodied practice as a twice-certified yoga teacher with training in somatics and facilitates various wellness experiences in community, corporate, and private settings. She continues to curate and facilitate wellness experiences as an independent practitioner. â€‹
